Alzheimer Scotland
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Although it has Dementia Resource Centres in 21 different locations, Scotland’s population is very widely dispersed, with many people in small communities and remote locations. The problems encountered by Covid-19 and lockdowns has made existing issues in providing support even more acute. So Care Visions Healthy Ageing ran a six week pilot project to assess the efficacy of online delivery to small, closed groups in the Highlands and Islands. These sessions were person-centred in nature, considering group members’ abilities and life experiences. The project has been very successful to date with high attendance, improved responses observed and positive feedback from staff and carers.
