After a successful career in business and finance, Mike pursued a passion project to create person-centred care, with a small, therapeutic residential children’s home in 1998. This was the origin of Care Visions, which had humble but ambitious beginnings. Mike grew it from one small home to the largest provider of Children’s Residential Care Services in Scotland and he extended its remit to include community-based foster care and home care. Seeing parallels in rethinking therapeutic care for children, with the issues and challenges that dementia posed, led Mike to the next part of his journey. He assembled a team to rethink how non-pharmacological approaches could change the treatment of dementia. Care Visions Healthy Ageing started in China in 2013, accelerating the development of research and innovation to make healthy ageing a reality for more people. Now, Care Visions China focuses on interventional, therapeutic care for dementia and healthy ageing. It also provides holistic home care, with institutions in dementia and online services nationwide.
